Located on the NORTH WALES COAST near the town of RHYL in the county of Conwy you will find Towyn and Kinmel Bay. The industry of the area focused on tourism, traditionally catering for holidaymakers from Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire and the Midlands. A popular retirement area, with locals and holiday makers choosing to spend their latter days in this area.
Pre-1930’s there was little in the way of local housing. The 1874 ORDNANCE SURVEY shows an agricultural area with 17 farms of which only three remain as working farms. The others having disappeared, or become holiday centres.
Two TILERIES shown on the 1874 Survey have also ceased to exist in their original form. To the south of the designated block is part of the site of the BATTLE OF MORFA RHUDDLAN which took place in AD795, when the Saxons massacred the Welsh.
